Some things make you realize who your true friends are. In the famous words of Forest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."
Well, this weekend wasn't what we expected it to be, but sometimes you gotta roll with the punches. Jen's grandfather sadly passed away Friday afternoon. We were planning on going up to visit him in the hospital this weekend, but we instead went up to Muskegon to begin planning his funeral. Everyone is sad, as expected, but it was nice to see her family also smiling and remembering the happy times they spent with him. It's times like these where you realize how much you take those around you for granted. What's there one day can be gone the next.
Sadness aside, Billy informed me I missed a few pictures in the most recent Up North posting of pictures. I have corrected it and there are now a few more pictures on page two, including one of Jen's jugs. I have some more from last weekend I still need to post. Perhaps I will get to that later today. Until then...have a nice day! Friday, February 27, 2004
I've been meaning to post the second one for a while, but after today's comic I am going to post both. Here's my two favorite, most recent Fox Trot comics:

Well, we won our second soccer game last night. WOO-HOO! With about two minutes left in the game, a member of the opposing team received a penalty which put them down a human. With that opportunity, we took a tied game and turned it into our lead with a goal by Dief helped by an awesome assist by Phil Shih. This was our first lead of the entire 60-minute game and for the last two minutes, the score remained unchanged and Go Time went on to claim their second victory. Yay.
In the previous game I decided I would start a new tradition of naming a "Player of the Game" (aka: POG), or the person who I thought did an outstanding job in that night's game. The person chosen as the POG would receive an expired coupon as their prize (Billy won last week). Well, after realizing many hurt feelings for not being chosen, I decided this week I would name a "Non-Player of the Game" (aka: N-POG), or the person who played the worst in that night's game. This way, less feelings will be hurt. I am proud to announce that the winner of last night's N-POG was the guy on the other team who got the penalty and gave us the chance to get the game winning goal. Thanks guy! That's all for now. Have a job in Troy here today and then it's back to East Lansing for a nice, non-relaxing weekend (gotta finish this tax stuff up). Hope you enjoy your weekend... Wednesday, February 25, 2004
Ha ha ha ha!!! Ryan Shaltry had a great link on his site to the newest variation of the Pingu Throw game. I am sure Mayer will enjoy this one, that sick bastard.
Yeti Sports has a new game out called Orca Slap. It takes a bit of getting used to and is not nearly as fun as Pingu Throw, but it is entertaining none-the-less. My total score on first try was 454.3. Anyway, enjoy.
I feel like crap today. Maybe it was the $#!% I ate for lunch and dinner yesterday or maybe I touched somebody's keyboard who was previously sick, but this sucks. I skipped my morning class, but made it to my 10:20 and now I am here at my 3 o'clock class. I feel a bit better after laying on the couch for some of the afternoon and hopefully I'll be back up to speed tomorrow.
Not much else is new. Gorman and Dief seem to be a bit behind on updating their sites and I know I have been slacking a bit lately. Gonna go surf the web a bit before class starts here... Monday, February 23, 2004
Man do the weekends fly by or what?! While it was another fun and relaxing weekend, it just flew by faster than Superman himself. Anywho, I will write more later but I should get back to class for now. My phone has been ringing all friggen' day. Not complaining, just stating. :-)

Well, just got back from my BCM (Building Construction Management) 124 test. I think I did reasonably well. I am not sure about two qeustions though:
Q: Why does a bag of cement weigh 94 lbs.? My answer: gravity Now that seems to be a resonable answer. It is true; is it not? The next question I think I should get right but that I don't think is the answer he was looking for: Q: Some members of your crew don't know how to crown a floor joist. What do you tell them to do? My answer: I tell them to start looking for a new job. Seriously. If some guy on my building crew didn't know how to do something, it would be a waste of my time to try and teach him. Go find a new job! We'll see if I get those questions right. Those were my honest to God answers. Maybe he has a sense of humor. Hopefully I mean... Friday, February 13, 2004
On my PDA right now and I just got from another long day of work in Detroit. Ugh! On my drive back I saw some guy try to shoot down the right lane and cut into the left lane. Well, there wasn't enough room for him and he clipped the other car and sent her into the ditch. I stopped to make sure everyone was okay and hit the road again. Silly people!
Anyway, my Valentine and I are going out to dinner now. As always...
Happy Friday the 13th! ALSO, we won our soccer game last night!!! I don't remember what the final score was, but I know we won. The team was pretty dirty actually, but we just pushed back. LLiby and I were ready to jump the boards once to get Dief's back when some guy tried to pick a fight with him, but luckily Dief just walked away. Punks!

I hate to admit it, but I was actually looking for an AOL CD last week to use for something other than a coaster. A customer actually wanted it installed on one of their computers. Now I hate AOL as much as the next guy, but if someone wants to pay me to install it, then I will. Now here's the odd twist to this story...I couldn't find an AOL CD ANYWHERE!!! Out of the millions and billions I have received in the mail, with my morning cereal, or that were distributed at my father's funeral, I could not produce one when I actually needed it! Now it gets even more weird because just yesterday they sent me one in the mail along with a big "AOL RULES!" marketing package.
Here's my conclusion: I think all of the other AOL CD's I received were spy CD's, watching and waiting until I needed one. Then, just as I went to look for one, they all disappeared so that AOL could send me this nice, big marketing package promoting the "BEST AOL EVER!" Yeah, right. Call me crazy...please. It is warming to know though that AOL is "looking forward to providing [me] with the richest online experience out there." Wow, what must I be missing... Monday, February 09, 2004
And Deyer just got a 593.5 on the penguin game. So I guess I just suck.
So Mayer beat my new penguin game record with a score of 588.8. I am going to kill him (okay, not really). I came pretty close to him though with a score of 586.1, but not close enough.
After last weeks IM swim meet (which I dove in and somehow got a 9.5/10 on a dive; that being my second day of diving in my life), Chris and I decided to start swimming on a regular basis this week. We just did a small set tonight, but man were we tired! It will be good for us though. Anyway, back to studying/working. Things have just been crazy lately! And this is like my fifth post today...
Mayer e-mailed me to inform me he had a high score of 577.6 in the penguin game I linked to below. That pissed me off so I went back and got a new high score:
![]() I also found a more advanced version of the game that is actually database-driven. While you can't hit the little guys as far, it keeps track of your score and can compare you against the rest of the world. That's all for now. Back to class...
RJ also sent me this funny video of this cat swinging from a fan. I am sure it is fake, but still funny none-the-less. Enjoy!
Now here's a fun and addictive game that my buddy RJ sent over to me. I actually saw it yesterday in Bowman's profile, but the one RJ sent over is better because it allows you to get a higher score. Either way, just go play it! My current high score is 556.5. Good luck!

I know, I know. It's been a while since I have written anything with any real, solid content to it. Lately it's been just a link here and a link there. I've been busy, okay? Let's see though, what's new...?
I never did get a chance to write about my adventures from the weekend before this past weekend. Billy, Jen, and I were on our way up north to meet up with Pat (my brother's friend) and my brother at Lake Ogemaw. They had got up there earlier in the day so they could get some snowmobiling time in. Well, on the way up I got a phone call from my brother. He sounded upset and he informed me that he and Pat had crashed the snowmobiles. Mind you, one of the snowmobiles involved in the accident is our one-month-old kitten we had JUST bought. Yeah, and he crashed it. It could have been a lot worse, but it could also have been a lot better. Here's some pictures. Unfortunately, Pat broke his leg and Chris was just a little shaken up. If you want to know exactly how it happened, ask me. It's too hard to type out. Like I said though, it could have been a LOT worse. This past weekend Jen and I went down to Kalamazoo to hang out with her 'rents in celebration of her dad's birthday. It was nice to relax and catch up on some work. I bought Ernest Goes to Camp for only $5.99 from Best Buy and I bought a sweet book, Windows XP Hacks, from Barnes & Noble. So far I have read some neat little tricks in there and I think it was worth the investment. ALSO, Gorman told me he was going to update his web site this weekend. That has yet to happen. COME ON GARLIC! In other news, I was trying to find the Coral Gables menu and Googled it and came across this site. First of all, isn't the Internet amazing?! Heidi, Charles, and I were trying to figure out a place to go. I suggested Coral Gables because Jen has wanted to go there for some time and Heidi wanted to know what was on their menu. So I went to Google and typed in "coral gables east lansing" and BOOM!, there it was; the fricken menu I was looking for was right there, on my screen in less that fifteen seconds after the request was made. Now that I've got myself all "excited" I should end this. As always... Wednesday, February 04, 2004Tuesday, February 03, 2004
I think it was intentional (NOTE: Once again, if you're under 18 or at work, don't click this link...okay?).

Apparently Google is suing the owners of Booble (WARNING: DO NOT click that link if you are under 18 years of age or at work. If you're over 18 and at home, click away). Frankly, I think it's funny, but lawyers don't have much of a sense of humor when it comes to copyright infringement.

Ha ha ha! This was a great Truth commercial shown during the Super Bowl. I went to it right after the commercial aired and the site quickly died on me. You think they'd know how to handle the traffic considering they are a Super Bowl advertiser!
